The 79th session of the UN General Assembly on Friday adopted a resolution to strengthen cooperation between the United Nations and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
Jointly proposed by China and several other countries, the resolution recognizes the SCO’s role in promoting peace, sustainable development, regional cooperation, and mutual trust. It calls for deeper dialogue and coordination between the UN and the SCO.
The resolution also encourages regular consultations between the UN and SCO secretaries-general, as well as collaboration between UN agencies and the SCO to jointly carry out programs that support shared goals.
