China’s 2025 box office has hit 40 billion yuan ($5.61B) by early September — three months ahead of last year — with domestic films contributing the vast majority. Hits like Ne Zha 2 and Dead to Rights also boosted overseas sales. The summer season alone brought in 11.64 billion yuan, led by Dead to Rights, Nobody, Jackie Chan’s The Shadow’s Edge, The Lychee Road, and Jurassic World Rebirth.
