The China Cultural Center in Yangon, together with China Media Group, hosted a commemorative event on Saturday afternoon featuring documentary screenings that highlighted historical memories and reflections.
The event was attended by Dr. Zheng Zhihong, Minister-Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar, and U Zeyar, Deputy Director General of the Media Development Department from Myanmar’s Ministry of Information. Officials from the Ministry of Information, representatives from China Media Group, and students and teachers from Bowen International Chinese Language School were also present.
Dr. Zheng Zhihong, Minister-Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar, and U Zeyar, Deputy Director General of the Media Development Department from Myanmar’s Ministry of Information, delivered remarks reflecting on historical events between China and Japan, emphasizing the importance of learning from the past and fostering cooperation and unity for the future.
The first documentary, The Myanmar Battlefield in WWII, explored the global coalition against fascism during World War II and emphasized the shared sacrifices made by nations, including those in Asia. Immediately afterward, a 90-second trailer for the film Dead to Rights—originally titled Nanjing Photo Studio in Chinese—was shown. This trailer highlighted a major summer box-office success in China: Dead to Rights has earned over 2.8 billion yuan since its July 25 release, becoming one of the top-grossing domestic films of the season
The final documentary, The Song of Great Wall, reflected on the historical and cultural significance of the Great Wall of China, portraying it as a powerful symbol of resilience.
The event also included an interactive Q&A session for attendees, with prizes awarded to participants.
