“Meet China: From Picturesque Landscapes to a Smart Future” Event Held at the China Cultural Center in Yangon

On August 23, the event “Meet China: From Picturesque Landscapes to a Smart Future” was successfully held at the China Cultural Center in Yangon. The event was co-hosted by CITIC Myanmar, the China Cultural Center in Yangon, China Media Group (CMG), and the Confucius Classroom at the Eastern Language and Business Center in Myanmar. More than 100 people attended, including Li Qianguo, Cultural Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar, along with students from the “Kyaukphyu Future” Chinese language training program and faculty and students from the National University of Arts (Yangon).

This event was part of a series of cultural activities for the “Kyaukphyu Future” Chinese training program. Under the theme “Nihao China!” the event showcased a more diverse and comprehensive image of modern China to young Myanmar students by focusing on China’s booming domestic summer travel and the development and application of 5G communication technology.

In the “Chinese Holiday Travel Culture” segment, a center teacher used a combination of lectures, videos, Q&A sessions, and interactive experiences to introduce Chinese holiday travel. They used the example of Kunming in Yunnan to share insights into the popularity of tourism in China this summer.

During the “Innovative China: A Smart Future” segment, CMG journalists and local media professionals led the students in watching the documentary The Science Cloud Classroom: Connecting the Future: High-Speed Communication Changes the World (Myanmar version). Produced by CMG in collaboration with the China Science and Technology Museum, the program introduced and explained the latest achievements in China’s modern technological development and their impact on daily life. The quiz section that followed created a wave of excitement.

According to Bhone Myat Kyaw, a student from the National University of Arts (Yangon), the event was “a refreshing experience” with its rich content and innovative format. It offered a mix of information on modern Chinese tourism and technological advancements, along with traditional cultural elements like Peking Opera costumes and masks.

Sithu, a student from the “Kyaukphyu Future” Chinese language training program, mentioned that he will be moving for work after completing his three-month course. He expressed his reluctance to leave and said that although he may not have many opportunities to attend similar events in Yangon, he will continue to follow developments in China and hopes to “see China with his own eyes.”

Many students shared that the event not only allowed them to experience the beauty of China’s landscapes but also the boundless potential of its technological innovation, calling it a “journey from scenery to a world of change.”
