A readers’ forum on the book “Xi Jinping: On Respecting and Protecting Human Rights” was held Thursday in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Jiang Jianguo of the China Society for Human Rights Studies said the book, now published in 13 foreign languages, reflects Xi’s care for the people and his vision as a global leader, while also highlighting China’s independent path in advancing human rights.
Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia Chen Hai noted that both China and Africa follow a people-centered approach to human rights suited to national conditions, opposing politicization. Liberian Deputy Foreign Minister Jeddi Mowbray Armah emphasized that each country should pursue its own path based on history and culture. About 150 representatives from African political, academic, media, and student communities attended the event.
