China to work with India to maintain sustained peace, tranquility in border areas

China has expressed readiness to continue constructive dialogue with India on their long-standing boundary issues. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said on Monday that Beijing is willing to use Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s visit to India, which includes the 24th round of boundary talks, as an opportunity to deepen communication, uphold border stability, and advance consensus reached by both countries’ leaders. She noted that the talks are a key channel for negotiations, with the last round held in Beijing in December where both sides agreed on measures for boundary control, mechanisms, and cross-border cooperation. Mao added that China and India have maintained diplomatic communication this year to follow through on earlier agreements, and emphasized Beijing’s desire to enhance trust, expand cooperation, and promote stable bilateral relations. During his visit, Wang Yi will also meet Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar for wider discussions on bilateral ties and regional issues.
