China’s top diplomat to chair 10th Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Foreign Ministers’ Meeting

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will chair the 10th Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Anning, Yunnan Province, from Thursday to Friday, the Foreign Ministry announced. The LMC, which includes China, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam, is a regional cooperation mechanism focused on consultation, collaboration, and shared benefits. Over the past decade, the six countries have strengthened connectivity by land, sea, air, and cyberspace; deepened trade, investment, and supply chain cooperation; and expanded cultural and people-to-people exchanges. They have embraced the Lancang-Mekong spirit of development first, equal consultation, efficiency, and inclusiveness, building solidarity in both bilateral and multilateral contexts. Marking the LMC’s 10th anniversary, China urged unity and stronger cooperation amid global instability, aiming to create a more resilient Lancang-Mekong Economic Development Belt and a closer community with a shared future. On the sidelines, an informal meeting between the foreign ministers of China, Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand—proposed by Thailand—will address regional issues, cross-border crime, and other shared concerns.
