At the China-ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Malaysia, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized the deepening ties between China and ASEAN. He noted stronger partnerships with countries like Vietnam and Malaysia, progress on trade through the upcoming China-ASEAN Free Trade Area upgrade, and improved regional cooperation, including with the Gulf states. Wang highlighted joint efforts on security, especially the South China Sea Code of Conduct and crackdowns on transnational crime. He also pointed to growing cultural exchanges and easier travel with new visa policies. China, he said, sees ASEAN as a key partner in building a peaceful and prosperous regional future.
