On Monday, U.S. President Donald Trump hosted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House, where both leaders discussed cooperation on Palestinian issues and ongoing efforts to secure a Gaza ceasefire.
Netanyahu suggested that some Palestinians in Gaza could relocate to neighboring countries if they choose, while Trump said the U.S. is working with Israel and others to help provide Palestinians a “better future.” Talks with Iran were also announced, with Trump expressing a desire to eventually lift sanctions and explore a “permanent deal.”
Despite optimism, ceasefire talks with Hamas ended Monday without a breakthrough, though negotiations are expected to continue. The main obstacle, according to Palestinian sources, remains Israel’s refusal to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza. The UN warned that fuel in Gaza is nearly depleted, with remaining supplies being used only for life-saving operations.
This meeting marked Trump and Netanyahu’s third face-to-face since Trump’s return to office and comes shortly after U.S. airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites in support of Israel.
