Gonzalo García scored the lone goal to lead Real Madrid past Juventus 1-0 in the FIFA Club World Cup round of 16 on Tuesday in Miami. The 21-year-old has now scored in every match of the tournament, stepping up while Kylian Mbappe recovers from illness.
Garcia headed in the winner in the 54th minute before being subbed off for Mbappe in the 68th, marking the French star’s Club World Cup debut. Juventus keeper Michele Di Gregorio kept the score close with 10 impressive saves.
The first half ended scoreless, with both sides having solid chances. Real Madrid now moves on to face Borussia Dortmund in the quarterfinals after they beat Monterrey 2-1.
