Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for stronger efforts to build a unified national market and boost the high-quality development of the marine economy. Speaking at a meeting of the Central Commission for Financial and Economic Affairs, Xi emphasized that a unified market is key to China’s new development model and overall modernization.
He outlined the need to standardize market systems, infrastructure, government behavior, and regulatory enforcement, while curbing unfair competition and improving procurement and investment practices. Strengthening fiscal, taxation, credit, and evaluation systems was also highlighted as essential.
Regarding the marine economy, Xi urged innovation-driven growth, industrial upgrades, ecological protection, and international cooperation. The meeting stressed increasing policy support and encouraging private investment to expand marine industries and promote sustainable development.
