Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in Astana, where he emphasized China’s commitment to strengthening its friendship and cooperation with Kazakhstan. Xi highlighted that their strong ties have endured international challenges and continue to thrive due to close geographic, cultural, and strategic ties. He called for deeper collaboration in areas like development, connectivity, high-tech, green growth, security, and people-to-people exchanges. Both leaders stressed the importance of mutual support on key national interests and working together on international platforms like the UN, SCO, and BRICS to promote fairness and multilateralism. They also oversaw the signing of over a dozen new cooperation agreements covering trade, investment, technology, tourism, and more, marking a new phase in China-Kazakhstan relations.
