Khaby Lame, the world’s most followed TikTok star, has left the U.S. after being detained by immigration agents in Las Vegas for allegedly overstaying his visa. The 25-year-old Senegalese-Italian influencer was stopped at Harry Reid International Airport but was allowed to depart voluntarily without receiving a deportation order, according to U.S. immigration authorities.
Lame had entered the U.S. on April 30 and was in the country during a period of intensified immigration crackdowns under President Donald Trump. His voluntary departure avoids a deportation record, which could have barred him from returning to the U.S. for up to ten years.
Known for his silent, humorous reactions to overcomplicated “life hacks,” Lame has over 162 million followers on TikTok. He became a global star during the pandemic, later signing a deal with Hugo Boss and becoming a UNICEF goodwill ambassador. He had recently attended the Met Gala in New York.
