Pentagon: Deploying Marines, National Guard to LA will cost $134 million

President Donald Trump’s deployment of 4,000 National Guard troops and 700 Marines to Los Angeles in response to immigration enforcement protests will cost about $134 million, mainly for housing, travel, and food, according to acting Pentagon comptroller Bryn Woollacott MacDonnell. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth defended the 60-day deployment as necessary to control unrest. California’s leaders challenged the federal use of troops, arguing it violates state sovereignty and federal law, but a judge rejected an immediate halt. Economists warn that the immigration raids and tariffs could harm California’s economy, which heavily relies on immigrant labor.
