Xi Jinping, Myanmar leader exchange congratulations on 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties

On June 8, 2025, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Myanmar leader Min Aung Hlaing exchanged congratulations on the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Myanmar. Xi highlighted the enduring “Paukphaw” (fraternal) friendship between the two countries, noting that their relationship has grown stronger over the years by upholding the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence and the Bandung Spirit. He emphasized their mutual support on core national interests and called for deepened cooperation through the Belt and Road Initiative, as well as China’s Global Development, Security, and Civilization Initiatives. Xi also recalled his recent meeting with Min Aung Hlaing in Russia, where they reached important consensus on building a China-Myanmar community with a shared future.

Min Aung Hlaing reflected on Xi’s 2020 visit to Myanmar as a milestone and thanked China for its swift humanitarian assistance following a powerful earthquake earlier this year. He praised the recent discussions with Xi in Moscow and expressed gratitude for China’s support of Myanmar’s peace, stability, and development. He voiced hope for stronger collaboration with China across various sectors to build a resilient and mutually beneficial partnership.

On the same day, Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Min Aung Hlaing also exchanged messages. Li noted the significant progress made in friendly exchanges and practical cooperation over the past 75 years. Both leaders expressed a commitment to advancing comprehensive strategic cooperation and continuing efforts to build a China-Myanmar community with a shared future for the benefit of both peoples.
