The move would have severely disrupted NASA, the Pentagon, and intelligence agencies that rely on SpaceX. Musk later backed down, saying he needed to cool off. NASA did not comment on alternatives but reaffirmed its commitment to the President’s space goals and continued collaboration with industry partners.
