North Korean leader Kim Jong Un met with Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu on Wednesday to discuss strengthening ties between the two countries, according to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).
The talks focused on mutual cooperation, regional and global issues, and reaffirmed shared positions on key matters. Kim pledged unconditional support for Russia’s foreign policies, including on the Ukraine conflict, and vowed to uphold the DPRK-Russia treaty.
Shoigu conveyed Russia’s gratitude to North Korean soldiers involved in operations in Russia’s Kursk region. Both sides expressed a strong commitment to deepening their relationship into a broad strategic partnership.
