He also faces urgent trade negotiations with the U.S. over tariffs imposed by the Trump administration, which have affected key industries like autos and steel. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio congratulated Lee, emphasizing the strong alliance between the two countries. The recent political upheaval, marked by martial law and multiple acting presidents, has left South Korea in a fragile state that Lee aims to stabilize.
