Heavy rainfall in southwest China’s Yunnan Province has caused geological disasters, house collapses, and road disruptions, affecting thousands.
In Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture, 5,885 people from 1,652 households were impacted, with 27 houses and 16 bridges damaged, and 97 road blockages reported. Nearly 1,800 residents were relocated, with no deaths reported.
In Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, landslides and floods blocked roads and forced the evacuation of 300 tourists from a scenic area. Rescue teams saved 138 trapped people and relocated 331 others.
More rain is expected, raising the risk of further landslides and floods.
