Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Lorin S. Robert, Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), in Xiamen on Thursday. The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening their comprehensive strategic partnership.
The meeting took place during the Third China-Pacific Island Countries Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, which resulted in a joint statement promoting deeper regional ties. Wang praised the progress in China-FSM relations and welcomed FSM’s continued support for the one-China principle, especially regarding Taiwan.
Wang highlighted the recent handover of the China-assisted FSM National Convention Center as a milestone and proposed expanding cooperation in infrastructure, climate change, marine research, education, and local governance.
Robert expressed appreciation for China’s support, reaffirmed FSM’s stance on the one-China policy, and praised China’s role in global sustainable development. He emphasized FSM’s desire to further deepen its partnership with China.
