Car plows into fans at Liverpool FC parade, dozens hospitalized

During Liverpool FC’s Premier League victory parade, a car drove into a crowd of fans, injuring 27 people—four of them children—and leaving several in serious condition. The incident occurred shortly after the team’s bus had passed through the area, with eyewitnesses saying the driver gave no warning or attempt to stop.

Police arrested a 53-year-old white British man from Liverpool, believed to be the driver, and stated the incident is not terrorism-related. Four people were trapped under the vehicle and had to be rescued by firefighters.

Videos showed the vehicle driving through a closed street packed with fans, triggering panic and chaos. Angry bystanders tried to confront the driver before police intervened. Authorities believe the incident was isolated and quickly identified the suspect to prevent misinformation.

The parade had drawn massive crowds due to the Spring Bank Holiday, and the crash cast a shadow over the celebrations. Emergency services responded swiftly, treating many at the scene and transporting others to the hospital.

Local officials, including the city’s mayor and the UK Prime Minister, expressed sympathy for the victims. Liverpool FC also offered support, stating they were in contact with police and keeping those affected in their thoughts.
