The “Tea for Harmony: Yaji Cultural Salon” held at National University of Arts and Culture (Yangon)

The lingering aroma of tea and the melodious sounds of traditional musical instruments created an enchanting atmosphere. On May 21, the “Tea for Harmony: Yaji Cultural Salon” was held at the National University of Arts and Culture (Yangon), Myanmar. As the sixth “International Tea Day” approached, the event aimed to promote tea culture, share tea stories, and foster dialogue on the mutual learning and exchange of civilizations.

During the event, Rector Kay Thi Htwe delivered an opening address warmly welcoming the “Tea for Harmony: Yaji Cultural Salon” to the university campus. Key participants included Li Qianguo, Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar; Chen Tao, General Manager of the Bank of China (Hong Kong) Yangon Branch; Deputy Rector U Khay Thong; and SKYNET presenter Khin Nyunt Chin Kyaw. These individuals shared insights into tea culture and their personal experiences, while also expressing heartfelt sentiments regarding the enduring friendship between China and Myanmar. Chinese tea masters provided live demonstrations of traditional tea brewing techniques, including the preparation of black tea by the covered bowl and green tea by the glass cup. Additionally, performances featuring traditional musical instruments from both China and Myanmar, such as the Chinese guzheng, Burmese harp, and crocodile zither, were alternately presented, creating a vibrant atmosphere that highlighted the cultural exchanges between the two nations.

This event was jointly organized by the Embassy of China in Myanmar, China Media Group, and the National University of Arts and Culture (Yangon), Myanmar, with support from Myanmar Anhui Chamber of Commerce.
