Chinese President Xi Jinping has emphasized the importance of friendship and cooperation between China and Latin American and Caribbean countries in recent years.
In 2014, Xi proposed building a shared future with the region during a summit in Brazil, where he also announced the creation of the China-CELAC Forum.
Since its launch in 2015, the forum has held three ministerial meetings. The fourth is set to take place in Beijing soon.
