United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has made a plea for a three-day ceasefire in Sudan to coincide with the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fitr. The ceasefire would allow civilians who are trapped in conflict zones to seek medical treatment, food, and other essential supplies. Guterres made this request after holding a virtual meeting with the heads of the African Union, Arab League, Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), and other relevant organizations.
