On Wednesday, United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan appointed his brother, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, as the vice president of the country, according to the official Emirates News Agency (WAM).
The appointment was approved by the UAE Federal Supreme Council. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the current Vice President, will remain in the same role.
Sheikh Mansour has an extensive career in public service and has held several important positions since 2004, including minister of presidential affairs, chairman of the Ministerial Development Council, and member of the Abu Dhabi Supreme Petroleum Council. Additionally, he has chaired organizations such as the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, National Archives, the Abu Dhabi Development Fund, and the board of the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority.
