Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal expressed hope for increased trade and investment with China to help Nepal achieve its development goals, during the Nepal-China investment and business forum held in Nepal’s capital.
China is currently Nepal’s second-largest trading partner and its largest source of foreign direct investment. Nepal’s PM praised China’s latest move to prioritize Nepal as a destination for China tourists, and reiterated Nepal’s adherence to the one-China principle.
The Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Chen Song, welcomed Nepal to take an active part in the Belt and Road Initiative and the Global Development Initiative and proposed cultivating new growth drivers such as clean energy and electric vehicles. The Chinese and Nepali business delegates had discussions following the forum’s inaugural session.
