On Wednesday, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni declared that Italy aims to have a significant role in the rebuilding of Ukraine. Meloni made this statement during a bilateral summit with Ukrainian officials in Rome, where various initiatives were discussed, including contributions from public and private capital, international institutions, and banks. Along with Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, Meloni emphasized the intention to have a leadership role, not just politically, but also in terms of engaging businesses. The cost to rebuild Ukraine, following Russia’s special military operation, has recently been estimated at $411 billion by the World Bank, United Nations, European Commission, and Ukraine.
