A helicopter unit of the Chinese peacekeeping mission evacuated workers for the United Nations trapped in conflict-torn Sudan on May 2. The third Chinese Peacekeeping Military Utility Helicopter Unit to United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei helped transfer 19 UN staffers from the southern part of the country to the region of Abyei. The high risk flight from Kadugli Airport to Abyei took nearly three hours, according to the unit.
