On Monday, China’s National Health Commission announced its latest plan to boost COVID-19 vaccination rates and increase immunity levels among certain groups to reduce the risk of severe infection and death. The plan, issued by the State Council joint COVID-19 prevention and control mechanism, targets those aged between three and 17 who have not been fully vaccinated or infected with the virus, adults who have not been infected and have not received booster shots, and individuals who have been infected but have not been fully vaccinated. Uninfected adults aged 18 and above can receive their first booster shot three months after their full vaccination. Individuals who were previously infected with COVID-19 but have not been fully vaccinated can get their vaccine shot three months after their infection, according to the plan.
