Britain’s Unite trade union has announced the suspension of planned strikes by ambulance workers on Monday and Wednesday, to engage in discussions with the government regarding their pay. This decision comes after two other trade unions, GMB and Unison, also paused their national ambulance strikes in a dispute over pay that has been ongoing for several months. Unite has temporarily halted the strike action in good faith, following assurances from the government over the weekend, but warned that the strike would resume if the government failed to meet these commitments. The union’s concerns related to confirmation that any agreement would involve new funds rather than putting pressure on existing budgets.
