On Wednesday, the British government’s Migration Bill, aimed at preventing the entry of asylum seekers who arrive via small boats across the Channel, was approved by the lower house of parliament. The bill passed in the House of Commons at the “third reading” stage by a vote of 289 to 230. The legislation will now be sent to the upper house, the House of Lords, where it may be modified or postponed. However, if approved, it could become illegal for asylum seekers to enter the country in this manner.
