According to surveys conducted by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, a recent poll released on Thursday found that President Joe Biden’s job approval rating is at 38% among the American public. This marks a decline in his popularity, approaching the lowest point of his presidency.
The poll also revealed that opinions on Biden’s handling of the national economy are more negative, with only 31% of respondents approving of his performance compared to 68% who disapprove. The evaluations of his overall approval and his handling of the economy were strongly partisan, with 76% of Democrats approving of his job performance and 63% approving of his handling of the economy. Republicans, on the other hand, continue to disapprove of his job performance and his handling of the economy.
Additionally, the poll showed that views of the country’s direction are more pessimistic than they were a month ago. Only 21% of the public believe that the United States is headed in the right direction, compared to 28% who said the same last month. Both Democrats and Republicans are less likely to say the country is headed in the right direction compared to February 2023.
