Australian professor, 3 colleagues taken hostage in Papua New Guinea

Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) reported on Monday, an Australian university professor and three colleagues have been taken hostage in the highlands of Papua New Guinea (PNG). According to the report, a group of armed men in the region took the four researchers at gunpoint and a ransom demand has been made for their release.
The Australian professor, a PNG program coordinator and two University of PNG graduates were in the area for field study.
